Insulin Resistance

Insulin Resistance, also known as Pre-Diabetes, affects 70-80 million Americans.  This is a dangerous and often overlooked condition that is the gateway to other serious chronic illnesses such as premature aging, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Disease, Alzheimer's, and various cancers.

Insulin Resistance usually results from excess consumption of sugars and carbohydrates. We all have the potential to become Insulin Resistant.   Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas that regulates the level of glucose (blood sugar) in the blood by helping glucose get into the cells. Insulin opens the door to your cells for glucose to get in.  Insulin Resistance results  when the body has had excessive exposure to sugars and chronic exposure to insulin.  As a result the insulin cell receptors become dulled to the uptake of glucose, unable to retrieve the glucose into the cell.  This results in the devastating outcome of high blood sugar AND high insulin.  Read more here.


Hypoglycemia

Hypoglycemia is another serious condition regarding blood sugar regulation. Hypoglycemia is when your blood sugar has gone too low.  Low blood sugar results in an  inadequate supply of glucose to the brain and causes a serious strain to the body and can be dangerous.
